Our Buildings Group offers services for all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design and construction. An opportunity exists in Stantec's Toronto, ON office for a highly motivated Structural Engineering Student to join our multidisciplinary team for a 4-month placement. The successful candidate will be part of the Structural Engineering team within the Building’s Engineering group.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Aiding Structural Engineers in the design/ analysis of new, renovated, and rehabilitated building structures from the conceptual stage through to construction administration.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated skill at organizing and planning work within tight deadlines.

  • Detailed attention to requirements and ensuring quality work.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment and common sense at work.

  • The ability to work independently and maintain productivity unsupervised.

  • The discipline to maintain required safe work procedures in any environment.

  • Experienced at working well in a team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Current Driver's license is required.

  • Familiarity with the National and Ontario Building Codes, CAN/CSA S16, A23.3, O86, S304 and other design guides is an asset

  • A working knowledge of Structural Engineering Analysis/ Design Software such as: ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, RAM, S-Frame and WoodWorks is an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
